Preparing for summer should not only include prepping for those beach trips and cookouts we are have been anxiously waiting for but prepping our homes for the scorching season of summer. Here are some hot tips to keep your home cool for the summer.
Caulk it UpCheck around the outside of your house and inspect the silicone and caulking to make sure there are no gaps. Caulking will make sure that unwanted water, air, and insects do not enter your home through these small gaps, which will not only help keep your home cool but will prevent additional costs for services like pest control. Check the windows and doors, especially the bottom of exterior doors.
Keep it CoolThe first of summer is a perfect time to service our HVAC system. One way to show some love to your HVAC is to change the air filters. Replacing the air filters can extend furnace life, reduce energy bills and improve the indoor air quality, on top of helping to keep your HVAC system running efficiently.
Keep it Clean
Keeping your gutters clean will not only help with your home's curb appeal but help ward off preventable damages to your home. Cleaning the gutters will help prevent water damage, which ultimately leads to structural damage. It also expands the lifespan of your roof since the possibility of water damage is lowered. Also, cleaning out your gutters eliminates a nesting place for pests like mice, insects, and birds.
Weed it OutWith the mixture of rain and sunshine that comes with the summer months, your lawn will begin to grow, which means that weeds will begin to grow. To help keep your property healthy and to keep up your curb appeal, make sure to apply weed control to these problem places on your lawn. Also, use fertilizer in the areas that need a little push when it comes to growing in.
